You can, if you wish, thank me in advance for introducing you to the newest columnist for WorldNetDaily.com -- Gordon Prather, a nuclear physicist whom I believe is a genius on the level of Albert Einstein. If you access the columns he has done thus far, you will find he has sharp disagreements with Einstein’s theories, about current conventional wisdom on the origin of the universe and its current state of play, on the implausibility that mankind contributes to global warming, and on the absence of any need for a national nuclear missile defense system. He writes with wit, and clearly enough so that if you have even a minimal interest in science, you will be able to follow him. He’s kind of weird, too, a man in his mid-sixties who from his photo looks like he was raised by wolves, who plays ice hockey with men half his age in the Washington suburbs of Virginia -- not as a goalie, but as a wing. I’ve known Gordon for more than 25 years and have relied upon him for expertise on political/technical matters.

You may remember reading “The Prather Report” last year, where he unraveled the stories appearing in the national media surrounding the arrest of Wen Ho Lee amid accusations of nuclear espionage and the People’s Republic of China. It is still worth reading and is available at this website. You can go directly to the Prather archive and sample his first columns, any one of which is a treat. You might start with his June 1 offering on missile defense, which begins: “The first thing to be said about ballistic missile defense is that we don't need one. What we need is a defense against the nukes that could, but probably...”

James Gordon Prather has been actively involved with Department of Energy National LABs, federal agencies, U.S. universities, U.S. private sector firms, congressional members and committee staff in seeking to ameliorate the radiological, environmental, health, safety and -- above all -- the nuclear weapons proliferation consequences of the collapse, first, of the Warsaw Pact in 1989 and then the Soviet Union in 1991. Dr. Prather has served as a policy implementing official for National Security related technical matters in the Federal Energy Agency (FEA), the Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA), the Department of Energy (DOE), the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and the Department of the Army (DA). Dr. Prather also served as Legislative Assistant for National Security Affairs to U.S. Senator Henry Bellmon (R-OK), Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee and Member of the Senate Energy Committee & Senate Appropriations Committee. Dr. Prather earlier had worked as a nuclear weapons physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California and Sandia National Laboratory in New Mexico.
